IRA/QCD Gifts
Under the SECURE 2.0 Act, the age at which individuals must begin taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) is generally age 73 for individuals born between 1951 and 1959, and age 75 for individuals born in 1960 or later. However, beginning at age 70½, you may make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to a qualified charity. A QCD can be a tax-efficient way to support causes that matter to you, as qualified distributions are generally excluded from taxable income and may satisfy all or part of your annual RMD requirements. Annual QCD limits are adjusted periodically by the IRS for inflation.
We encourage you to consult your financial or tax advisor before initiating a QCD to ensure it aligns with your financial goals. If you would like to make a gift this way, please have the check made payable to the Archbishop's Annual Appeal, Tax EIN 39-5152626 and mail it to 467 Bloomfield Avenue, Bloomfield, CT 06002. Contact the Appeal Office at (800) 781-2550 with any questions regarding this type of gift.
